Medical science is a pretty different ball game compared to all other professions, and a doctor patient relationship is considered special - which means doctors have to remain on top of recent advancements each day, every day to give the best to their patients.
Dentistry, as a part of medical science, is even more technically demanding in certain aspects. As the cliche goes, Dentistry is an art as well as a science, and a dentist needs to hone his skills regularly, with the spate of technological upgrades changing the way it is practised. The dental colleges and dental education in India has not been able to keep up with the changing technology scene, with the result that new graduates are often woefully inadequately trained to practice in the real world. Our aim is to bridge this gap by providing quality dental education in Surat with short term and long term courses in small batches with teaching by experts in the field.
Have you ever wondered why the leading sportspersons like roger federer, novak djokovic or sachin tendulkar still need coaches? There is a place for skill refinement and clearing the mind even for the best of us. However, dentists and medical professionals are expected to learn their skills once and keep on improving on their own all their lives. Short term courses are useful ways to learn and refine skills. For complicated procedures like dental implants though, it is very useful to have another skilled professional as a sounding board, as a mentor or just to form alternate treatment plans and options. Our implant courses are planned to build relationships that last a lifetime where advice and criticism are just a phone call away, and which benefit both the mentor and the participant equally. We hope it will be a unique relationship in today's professional world, and we hope to design such courses and mentorship programs for other facets of dentistry soon.
Our first batch of the comprehensive implant mentorship programme got underway with the first module on 22nd and 23rd August, 2015. 12 enthusiastic and skilled participants from Surat and Valsad joined the programme. It was an enlightening discussion and interactive weekend on the science of dental implants, treatment planning for implantology, hands-on on multiple implant systems, and a lot more. The second batch of our implant programme was held on 5th/6th September with the surgical module. Dr Hardik Mehta, eminent periodontist from Ahmedabad was the co-faculty. 12 participants placed implants in the course, with a variety of cases like a missing central incisor implant with deficient ridge, overdenture implants in lower jaw, maxillary posterior implants with indirect sinus lift, mandibular premolars and molars, etc. Overall it was an immensely satisfying and learning day, and all surgeries went smoothly, with the participants going home after gaining immense confidence, having placed their first implant.
